Here at Metrolofteventi We’re constantly looking for ways to turn every celebration into an extraordinary event, and Margherita’s recent 30th birthday party was a perfect example of this philosophy! It was a real trip down memory lane to the 1990s – a decade that continues to hold an irresistible charm with its iconic music, daring fashion and technology that makes us smile today, but which was cutting-edge back then. Get ready to relive the excitement of an evening that brought the indomitable spirit of those years back to life!

BETWEEN VIDEO CASSETTES AND FLOPPY DISCS, THE PARTY BEGINS!

From the very moment the guests stepped through the door at Metrolofteventi, it was clear that every detail had been meticulously planned to immerse them completely in the’a 90s vibe. Our venue was transformed into a time capsule, thanks to meticulous staging and a series of themed decorations (curated by our colleague, who handmade the goody bags one by one) that faithfully recreated the atmosphere of that vibrant decade. Every corner of the venue was a nod to the past, an invitation to rediscover the symbols and icons that shaped a generation.

The beating heart of this nostalgic journey was represented by the special gadgets which we had scattered throughout the party venue. Imagine the surprise and the smiles on the guests’ faces as they found themselves surrounded by objects that were once a constant presence in their lives: audio cassettes, video cassettes and, of course, the legendary floppy discs. These weren’t just props, but genuine catalysts for memories, sparking lively conversations and moments of sharing anecdotes about VHS tapes that would jam or cassette tapes that had to be rewound with a pen. Their presence made the 1990s theme engaging and incredibly authentic.

The evening got off to a flying start with a “warm-up” session designed to liven up the atmosphere and get everyone in the mood for the big party. For Margherita’s 30th birthday, Jody Belli from DJ4 (DJ4 is Metrolofteventi’s “satellite” company, specialising in music for events and parties) created a ’90s-themed playlist, to ensure an unforgettable party.

The evening began with a warm-up classic tracks to set the right mood straight away. During the aperitif, iconic and more laid-back tracks such as “Sing It Back” by Moloko and the “Space Cowboy Remix” by Jamiroquai got the party started.

After that, the pace picked up with the the most energetic dance music of the 1990s by artists such as Corona, Ice MC and Snap. At Margherita’s request, hits from the early 2000s were also included, demonstrating DJ4’s ability to personalise the music whilst always maintaining a stylistic consistency.
